Ukrainian veterans — participants and medalists of the Invictus Games 2023 and 2025 — received state honors from President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. During an official ceremony on January 14, 2025, the President presented 36 Orders of Merit (3rd Class) and 20 Orders for Courage (3rd Class).

For the team at the CBA Initiatives Center, this is another reason to take pride in the Ukrainian national teams — and an honor to be part of their recovery journey through adaptive sports. We firmly believe that adaptive sports offer a powerful pathway to both physical and psychological rehabilitation for veterans.

Invictus Games are an international adaptive sports competition for active service members and veterans who have sustained injuries, trauma, or illnesses during their service. Founded in 2014 by Prince Harry, the Games bring together participants from around the world.

Ukraine has been participating in the Invictus Games since 2018. Since 2019, the national team has had a reliable partner — the CBA Initiatives Center. The Center’s specialists are involved in the selection process and training, supporting the team at every stage — from submitting applications to competing on the international stage. In addition to operational support, the Center also contributes to the financial and organizational aspects of the team’s participation.

To prepare for and support the Ukrainian team’s most recent trip to Canada for the 2025 Invictus Games, the Come Back Alive Foundation raised and administered 10 million hryvnias. These funds made it possible, among other things, to conduct high-altitude training camps, provide equipment, and ensure professional coaching support.

For the Center, Ukraine’s participation in the Invictus Games is about more than physical activity. It is a reminder to the world that the strength of a nation lies in its people.

We strive to help create conditions at both the state and societal levels where adaptive sports become a standard and accessible part of recovery for every veteran. The Invictus Games offer clear proof: victory is possible even when life must be rebuilt from the ground up.
