Adaptive Sports, Analytics, and New Partnerships: The Come Back Alive Initiative Center Summarizes 2024

The year 2024 was a period of active development and expansion of collaborations, particularly international ones, for the Come Back Alive Initiative Center. The first public events, new projects, and the development of adaptive sports in Ukraine became the main milestones of the year.

In October 2024, the Come Back Alive Initiative Center organized its debut public event—a presentation of its key operational areas and communication platforms for engaging with partners and the audience. Diplomats, representatives of government bodies, donor organizations, businesses, the public sector, and the media joined the event. This became the starting point for the Center's public activity.

Throughout the year, the team prepared over 10 analytical documents, including:

  • The study "Wagner. Deconstruction";
  • The report "Goodbye, Neutrality: Analysis of Swedish Military Aid to Ukraine";
  • The results of research into the problems of basic general military training for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

The Center actively developed international cooperation: holding over 90 meetings with partners, including RAND Corporation, PISM, Rasmussen Global, OSW, as well as the Ministries of Defence of Ukraine's partner countries. Representatives of the Center participated in more than 10 international events, including the Annual Security Review Conference at the OSCE and a seminar at NATO Headquarters.

Among the important achievements of the year:

  • Participation of the Head of the Analytical Department, Anton Muraveynyk, in the development and implementation of an updated system for military transfers;
  • Speech by Senior Analyst Mariia Kucherenko at the hearings of the US Congress Helsinki Commission on the 1000th day of the full-scale war;
  • Participation in an Atlantic Council discussion on the security of Ukraine and the stability of Europe.

A separate area of work for the Come Back Alive Initiative Center is the development and scaling of adaptive sports among veterans in Ukraine. In 2024, the Center, together with partners, raised over 20 million hryvnias to support the Ukrainian national team for the Invictus Games in Canada and to purchase equipment for adaptive sports.

"We are grateful to everyone who supports our initiatives. Together, we strengthen Ukraine's capabilities on various fronts—from research and international diplomacy to the sports rehabilitation of veterans," the Center emphasized.
