The CBA Initiatives Center has launched “Our People Are Here” — a digital platform designed to help veterans, service members, and their families find support through physical activity.

Interest in adaptive sports among Ukrainian veterans and active-duty personnel continues to grow — and with it, the need for clear guidance in this field. Where to train, how to start, who can support you, how to find your place in a community — these questions often go unanswered.

To meet this need, the CBA Initiatives Center’s Veterans Department created “Our People Are Here” — a resource focused on recovery through adaptive sports for veterans, service members, and their loved ones. The project examines and maps environments that support rehabilitation after injuries, wounds, or illnesses, while also promoting adaptive sports nationwide.

For now, the platform includes information about rehabilitation centers, sports clubs, and veteran spaces in Kyiv and the surrounding region. Over time, more cities will appear on the map.

The platform features rehabilitation centers, sports facilities, veteran hubs, as well as specialized events. It is useful not only for those undergoing recovery, but also for families, friends, adaptive sports coaches and assistants, medical professionals, and other specialists interested in this field.

On the “Our People Are Here” website, users can:

  • explore an interactive map of recovery locations and find a convenient place to train — for themselves or someone they care about
  • read articles about adaptive sports
  • learn from veterans’ personal stories
  • find helpful contacts

What makes the project unique is its approach to verifying information. Every location is checked in person by the CBA Initiatives Center team.

“We don’t just search for recovery locations — we visit them, explore the space, and talk with managers and specialists. Then comes thorough and consistent evaluation: we assess the conditions, services, and capabilities. Only when a place meets our standards do we add it to the map,” — says Olha Husakova, Senior Specialist of the Veterans Department at the CBA Initiatives Center.

The project also aims to popularize adaptive sports in Ukraine as one of the most effective recovery methods for defenders. It is essential not only to make this concept familiar — but to ensure people truly engage in it. That is why the platform brings together verified locations and useful materials to help everyone get started.
