CBA Initiatives Center leadership team Meets with President to Discuss Victory Plan
On October 23, 2024, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with civil society representatives to discuss the Victory Plan. The meeting included Oleg Karpenko, Deputy Director of "Come Back Alive," and Pavlo Klimkin, the member of the Foundation's supervisory board.
During the discussion, the President urged civil society to collaborate in implementing the Victory Plan, emphasizing that this joint effort would help unite the global community in support of Ukraine.
"Today, we’re talking about the first stage — the opportunity to defend Ukraine. To secure it. To win. If we’re talking about realism and results, I’d like this meeting to be the start of our collective shift from perception to real outcomes," President Zelensky stated.
Journalist and human rights activist Maksym Butkevych, recently freed from captivity in early October, also attended the meeting, highlighting the importance of prisoner exchanges.
"I very much hope exchanges will continue and eventually become widespread. This is also a challenge, as we need to develop rehabilitation and support systems for those who return," Butkevych noted.
In his evening video address, President Zelensky reiterated the importance of working together. "Today, I met with representatives of our Ukrainian civil society," he said. "Many organizations were involved, covering foreign policy, defense development, human rights, and freedom protection. Maksym Butkevych, a Ukrainian human rights defender and soldier recently freed from Russian captivity, was also there. We thoroughly discussed the Victory Plan and our need to jointly restore justice for Ukraine."
